April 5th - The Beginning of the Rest of My Life

No, we didn't change the date of our wedding to April 5th. What exactly is the significance of this date? It would be the Royals home opener, which like I said, marks the beginning of the rest of my life. Last night I had to ignore my soon-to-be husband for 2 1/2 hours as he selected the men that would become the most important people in is life for the next 9 months. Together, we experienced our first Fantasy Baseball Draft. I'm still a little shook up, but I heard it gets easier each year.

I'll never understand why we have to watch every baseball game on TV (even when it's not the Royals playing) or why Matthew takes notes in his 2010 Baseball Prospects book or why he knows more about baseball players than perhaps he knows about me. :) What I do know is that this is what marriage is all about. Me partaking in his activities and him buying me cute outfits to accompany him in.

It's all about compromise. I love you babe!

RSVP please

We're proud and relieved to announce that the invites went out this morning! We're so happy with the design of the invitations (thanks Lynn!) and the beautiful calligraphy (thanks Anne!).

So, throughout the wedding-planning process, Matthew has been a great help. Just this week, I asked him to go to the post office to get postcard stamps for the reply cards. I told him the amount to get, but failed to specify how I wanted the stamps to look. Girls know that you want to pick pretty stamps (this is after all, your wedding invitations). I assumed he'd get something with hearts or flowers or wedding rings or something along those lines.

Never assume. Matthew came back with stamps with large POLAR BEARS on them. Gotta love him for trying. :)

Fiancé, Fiancée, Fiansay, Fianseh

I can't wait to get married! So many benefits await me: Tax deductions, cool in-laws (Melina is unaware of this post and did not make me say that), and locking up someone who can pack my suitcase, do my laundry, and tell me how to coordinate my hats. Melina is kind of like Joe Mauer, except with shorter sideburns (haha, just kidding), and I'm kind of like the Minnesota Twins. I'm locking up the future of my life to a long term contract. She will be expensive, but hopefully not $180 million expensive. I need to ditch the baseball analogy before it gets creepy.

Anyways, the real reason I am writing this post is to highlight the number 1 reason why I am so excited to be getting married in just over two months from now. I will never have to write, say, think, or google "fiancee" or "fiance" with any frequency ever again. Over the past 9 or so months of being engaged, I have come to despise the word for its awkwardness. It's awkward to spell. It's awkward to type as I haven't had to type accents since freshman spanish. It's awkward to say. And I am sick of googling it to figure out which spelling I should use for me and which I use for my beautiful bride to-be. I have probably been to the fiance wikipedia page two dozen times since the engagement, and I look forward to never going back.

I think the PC revolution that turned "waitress" into "server" and "stewardess" into "flight attendant" needs to solve this crisis immediately. And from there, I will take suggestions.

*Legal disclaimer: The real number 1 reason I am excited to get married is because I love my future wife (see what I did there?) and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Dog for Loan

We're loaning Stewart out for the week we're in Belize on our honeymoon. Any takers?
Here's Stew's must-have list for the home he stays in.

-a warm, comfy bed + pillow. I like to snuggle!
-cozy couch. I love watching TV in people's laps.
-a bone. So I don't accidentally chew on anything important.
-a yard. My parents don't have one and it SUCKS!
-my favorite snacks. I love ice cubes, cheese and carrot sticks.
